Pa­tient ac­cused of­selling generic drug

Lu Yong, a 46-year-old leukemia pa­tient in Wuxi, has been charged with sell­ing an un­reg­is­tered drug, Beijing News re­ported on Wed­nes­day. Lu, who owns an in­ter­na­tional trad­ing company, was di­ag­nosed in 2002. Two years later, he started us­ing a generic ver­sion of the drug Gleevec, which was man­u­fac­tured in In­dia. Lu al­legedly in­tro­duced the drug to other pa­tients and bought sup­plies for them. The procu­ra­torate of Yuan­jiang has charged him be­cause buy­ing and sell­ing a drug that is not regis­tered with the Food and Drug Ad­min­is­tra­tion is il­le­gal.
