Patient accused ofselling generic drug
Lu Yong, a 46-year-old leukemia patient in Wuxi, has been charged with selling an unregistered drug, Beijing News reported on Wednesday. Lu, who owns an international trading company, was diagnosed in 2002. Two years later, he started using a generic version of the drug Gleevec, which was manufactured in India. Lu allegedly introduced the drug to other patients and bought supplies for them. The procuratorate of Yuanjiang has charged him because buying and selling a drug that is not registered with the Food and Drug Administration is illegal.
