China Mo­bile, CCTV teamup for 4G video me­dia ven­ture

Tele­coms company Chi­naMo­bile and Sta­te­owned broad­caster China Cen­tral Tele­vi­sion signed an agree­ment onWed­nes­day to jointly con­struct a 4G video com­mu­ni­ca­tions cen­ter and for start­ing 4G video business. Xi Guo­hua, board chair­man of China Mo­bile, said that CCTV, which owns the most abun­dant con­tent re­sources in China and Chi­naMo­bile’s huge 4G net­work will come to­gether to cre­ate China’s largest new me­dia com­mu­ni­ca­tions plat­form. Xi said that by 2016, the 4G video com­mu­ni­ca­tions cen­ter will cre­ate over 5,000 jobs for the up­stream and down­stream in­dus­try chain and boost the in­dus­trial scale to tens of bil­lions of yuan. The two sides will jointly de­velop mo­bile de­vices as well as de­riv­a­tive ap­pli­ca­tions for mo­bile videos, and launch more in-depth col­lab­o­ra­tion in the an­i­ma­tion, mo­bile read­ing, mo­bile mu­sic and other 4G ser­vices in the fu­ture.
