New lo­ca­tion for Shang­hai’s duty-free store

The only down­town du­tyfree store lo­cated in Shang­hai’s Jing’an dis­trict will be­come 10 times larger at its new lo­ca­tion in Yueda 889 Plaza come Jan­uary 2016. The new 3,500-squareme­ter store will pro­vide a wider se­lec­tion of tax-free prod­ucts such as baby for­mula, food and snacks, health and well­ness prod­ucts, house­hold ap­pli­ances and elec­tron­ics, ac­cord­ing to Yan Jianxin, deputy gen­eral man­ager of China Na­tional Ser­vice Cor­po­ra­tion for Chi­nese Per­son­nel Work­ing Abroad, which opened the na­tion’s first du­tyfree store in 1983. Ac­cord­ing to do­mes­tic law, Chi­nese cit­i­zens who are aged 16 and above and are mak­ing a trip out­side Chi­nese borders can make a one-time pur­chase of a cer­tain amount of tax-free prod­ucts at the store within 180 days of their re­turn date.
