State-run company had 24 ‘naked officials’

China Daily (Canada) - - NEWS CAPSULE -

Twenty- four officials at State-run China State Construction Engineering Corp have been identified as “naked officials” — those who live in China while their spouses or children live as permanent residents abroad, either by visa or citizenship.

The Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, the nation’s top anti-graft authority, looked into the company’s 4,300 executives and department heads and the status of their family members.

Under newly revised administrative rules, the 24 officials who were identified must choose between their families’ nationalities or keeping their current posts at the company. The company said in a statement that 23 of the individuals have been removed from their posts.
