Stock prices de­cline fol­low­ing­weak data

The bench­mark Shang­hai Com­pos­ite In­dex de­clined 2.2 per­cent at the close on Wed­nes­day and the stocks trad­ing in Hong Kong slid the most in a month af­ter a pre­lim­i­nary man­u­fac­tur­ing gauge un­ex­pect­edly fell to a sixyear low and con­cern grew the gov­ern­ment will pare its sup­port for eq­ui­ties. The Caixin Media and Markit Eco­nom­ics’ Man­u­fac­tur­ing Pur­chas­ing Man­agers’ In­dex fell to 47 in Septem­ber, the low­est level since the global fi­nan­cial cri­sis.
