At the re­cep­tion, San Fran­cisco Mayor Ed Lee also pro­claimed Sept 28 as Chi­ne­seAmer­i­can Friend­ship and Her­itage Day. He said he hoped he and Brown, as rep­re­sen­ta­tives of San Fran­cisco and Cal­i­for­nia, could visit China to pro­mote the bi­lat­eral re­la­tion­ships.

As the gate­way for Chi­nese peo­ple and en­ter­prises com­ing to the US, San Fran­cisco at­tracted $1 bil­lion in in­vest­ment from China in 2014.
