Tourist sites im­pose caps dur­ing hol­i­day pe­riod

The week- long Na­tional Day hol­i­day that be­gan on Oct 1 ended on Wed­nes­day and a num­ber of tourist sites used a range of mea­sures to avoid over­crowd­ing.

The Palace Mu­seum, also known as the For­bid­den City, in Bei­jing stopped selling tick­ets af­ter it re­ceived its daily max­i­mum of 80,000 tourists. The Tem­ple of Heaven re­ceived 58,000 visi­tors, while the Badal­ing Great Wall saw 25,000.

Hav­ing ex­pe­ri­enced huge hol­i­day crowds for sev­eral years, Ji­uzhaigou Val­ley in Sichuan province, one of China’s top at­trac­tions, an­nounced a daily cap of 41,000.
