The expansion and development of Asian markets for BC lumber has been a large part of the forestry sector’s recovery from the worldwide recession of 2008. Jobs have increased 7 percent, and exports are up 20 percent.
“We’re the largest exporters into those markets, both into China and Japan,” Thomson said. “We want to continue to build value and opportunities for our industry.”
