Bribery draws 15-year sen­tence

The for­mer vice-gov­er­nor of Hubei prov­ince, Guo Youm­ing, was sen­tenced to 15 years in prison for tak­ing CANADAbribes worth around 23.8 mil­lion yuan ($3.7 mil­lion), a court in neigh­bor­ingHe­nan prov­ince ruled on Wed­nes­day. The Nan­chang In­ter­me­di­ate Peo­ple’s Court said in the rul­ing that per­sonal property worth 2 mil­lion yuan would be con­fis­cated and promised that all of Guo’s il­le­gal gains would be re­cov­ered. Guo ac­cepted bribes from lo­cal com­pa­nies and busi­ness­peo­ple be­tween 2001 and 2013.
