New plat­forms to help the econ­omy

Idle fac­to­ries and ware­houses will be trans­formed into bases for en­trepreneur­ship and in­no­va­tion, with govern­ment sub­si­dies for rent, util­i­ties and In­ter­net ac­cess, ac­cord­ing to a govern­ment state­ment .

The ini­tia­tive was an­nounced dur­ing a State Coun­cil ex­ec­u­tive meet­ing presided over by Premier Li Ke­qiang.

Pri­or­ity will be

given

to in­for­ma­tion tech­nol­ogy, high­end equip­ment man­u­fac­tur­ing and mod­ern agri­cul­ture.

The govern­ment will en­cour­age ven­ture cap­i­tal in­vest­ment in th­ese bases, and will pro­vide pol­icy sup­port in tax­a­tion, in­tel­lec­tual prop­erty rights and in other fields. Tech­ni­cal work­ers will be sup­ported at th­ese bases and in start­ing busi­nesses.
