Invest: Canada has a positive attitude

China Daily (Canada) - - ACROSS AMERICAS -

“US$60.5 billion has been signed to Canada, 95 percent of which flowed to natural resources. But new findings show that investment from China to Canada has begun to diversify, and private companies are becoming the new dominant players in the Canadian market. There are 216 Chinese companies active in every sector of the Canadian market,” Xia told the gathering.

“Chinese investors have made a good contribution to the Canadian economy,” he said. “The 216 investing Chinese companies operating in Canada have brought 6,500 direct jobs.”

Asked why Chinese investors were still confident on Canada with the slump in prices of natural resource, Xia said that he had talked with many executives of the Chinese companies.

“Their confidence comes from their perspective on Canada’s economic recovery and on the Chinese economic transformation for the long run, even though they are facing temporary difficulties,” he said.

“The confidence also comes from the positive attitude and favorable policies of the Canadian government’s welcoming of foreign investment,” Xia added.
