Ma­jor land port to ex­pand ca­pac­ity

Manzhouli, China’s largest land-based port of en­try, is ex­pected to see its an­nual high­way cargo han­dling ca­pac­ity climb to 10 mil­lion met­ric tons this year, from the cur­rent 3 mil­lion tons, ac­cord­ing to the city gov­ern­ment ofManzhouli, which said the in­crease is re­lated to the first stage of a project aimed at up­grad­ing road ser­vices to the port, which is near both Rus­sia andMon­go­lia. The project is ex­pected to be com­pleted in 2017 at a cost of 1.03 bil­lion yuan ($159 mil­lion).
