Step for­ward for nu­clear project

The pres­sure ves­sel was put in place on the first high-tem­per­a­ture nu­clear re­ac­tor of a demon­stra­tion power project in Shan­dong prov­ince last week, mark­ing a ma­jor step to­ward the devel­op­ment of fourth-gen­er­a­tion nu­clear tech­nol­ogy. The high­tem­per­a­ture and gas-cooled nu­clear tech­nol­ogy is an in­dige­nous nu­clear de­sign by the In­sti­tute of Nu­clear and New En­ergy Tech­nol­ogy of Bei­jing-based Ts­inghua Univer­sity. Ex­perts said the move sig­nals that the project has en­tered into a ma­jor stage of in­stal­la­tion and will be com­mis­sioned soon. The project, lo­cated in Shi­dao Bay of Shan­dong, is be­ing jointly man­aged by China Hua­neng Group, China Nu­clear En­gi­neer­ing Group, and Ts­inghua Univer­sity.
