In­ner Mon­go­lia coal out­put down 16.8%

In­nerMon­go­lia au­ton­o­mous re­gion, the coun­try’s sec­ond-largest coal-pro­duc­ing area, saw a 16.8 per­cent de­cline in coal out­put in the first four months of the year, as it pushed for­ward the sup­ply-side re­form. The re­gion churned out 250.9 mil­lion tons of coal dur­ing the Jan­uary-April pe­riod, its coal mine safety de­part­ment said. Fac­ing ex­cess ca­pac­ity, the re­gion has slashed coal pro­duc­tion ca­pac­ity of ma­jor State-owned mines by nearly one-third to 192.5 mil­lion tons in the pe­riod.
