Officials from the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine (BUCM) and Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) of Richmond, British Columbia on Sept 1 signed a memorandum of understanding to launch a twoyear acupuncture joint diploma program. Graduates will receive diplomas from both universities.

The memorandum promises a framework for students of the Canadian university’s new acupuncture diploma program to transfer into year four of BUCM’s five-year degree program in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

“By choosing to further their studies at BUCM, KPU’s acupuncture diploma graduates will expand their knowledge of TCM to include massage, herbology, dietary therapy and other important TCM-related studies,” said Dr Salvador Ferreras, KPU’s provost.
