Ma Huateng is top donor in China
MaHuateng, chairman and CEO of Tencent, was named China’s biggest donator from 2011 to 2016, donating up to 17.235 billion yuan ($2.5 billion), in a report released in April by the China Philanthropy Research Institute of Beijing Normal University and China Global Philanthropy Institute. He was followed by Alibaba Group Chairman Jack Ma, who donated 17.193 billion yuan. The report said for the 123 donators who donated more than 100 million yuan during the past six years, most of the donations were emotional, short-term and unsustainable. About half, it added, were related to commercial strategy.
