FDI in­creases 17.3 per­cent in Septem­ber

For­eign di­rect in­vest­ment (FDI) into the Chi­nese main­land rose 17.3 per­cent year-on-year to reach $10.7 bil­lion last month, data showed.

The growth ac­cel­er­ated from 9.1-per­cent in Au­gust, ac­cord­ing to the Min­istry of Com­merce.

In the first nine months, the FDI in­flow edged up 1.6 per­cent com­pared with a 0.2-per­cent drop in the Jan­uary-Au­gust pe­riod.

FDI in the man­u­fac­tur­ing sec­tor re­bounded while high­tech man­u­fac­tur­ing and ser­vice in­dus­tries main­tained strong growth mo­men­tum.

In the first nine months, the man­u­fac­tur­ing sec­tor was up 7.5 per­cent year-on-year, ac­count­ing for nearly 30 per­cent of the to­tal FDI.

The ser­vice sec­tor drew 69.2 per­cent of the to­tal. Pro­duc­tion and sup­ply of power, gas and wa­ter rose 82.9 per­cent year-onyear. The high-tech man­u­fac­tur­ing sec­tor in­creased 27.5 per­cent year-on-year. The high-tech ser­vice in­dus­try was up 24 per­cent year-on-year.
