Snow leop­ards caught on cam­era

Images of snow leop­ards have been recorded for the first time in eastern parts of the Ti­bet au­ton­o­mous re­gion. A to­tal of 20 in­frared cam­eras in­stalled within a 100-square-kilo­me­ter area in the Nu­jiang River Val­ley have cap­tured footage of the big cats sev­eral times since Novem­ber, lo­cal au­thor­i­ties said on Dec 18. Snow leop­ards are a Class A pro­tected an­i­mal in China and are clas­si­fied as en­dan­gered by the In­ter­na­tional Union for Con­ser­va­tion of Na­ture.
