China Daily European Weekly - - News Digest -

Chinese authorities can now check through a shared marriage database to see whether a person has registered for marriage at a Chinese embassy or consulate overseas, the Ministry of Civil Affairs said on May 16. Domestic data are also available at overseas diplomatic installations, which the ministry said could help curb misconduct involving marriage registrations. It came after the ministry decided to share the data with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a move in line with the central government’s policy to boost data connectivity between departments.
