Stocks extend winning streak
Hong Kong stocks rose, extending the benchmark index’s longest weekly winning streak since October, after the mainland’s services industry accelerated for the first time since March in a sign the economy is stabilizing. Biostime International Holdings Ltd, a supplier of baby products, surged 9.8 percent after the mainland halted imports from New Zealand’s Fonterra Cooperative Group Ltd on concern its milk powder is contaminated. The Hang Seng Index gained 0.1 percent to close at 22,222.01, after capping a six-week advance on Aug 2. Half the shares on the 50-member gauge climbed.
