New group to re­ject ‘Oc­cupy’

About 40 so­cial elites in the busi­ness and aca­demic fields formed a new group called “Silent Ma­jor­ity for Hong Kong” to gather op­po­si­tion to the “Oc­cupy Cen­tral” cam­paign. Among the ini­tia­tors that briefed the press on Thurs­day were Robert Chow Yung, vet­eran re­porter and TV host, and Ho Lok-sang, di­rec­tor of the Cen­ter for Pub­lic Pol­icy Stud­ies at Ling­nan Univer­sity. The group’s goal, Chow said, is to gather tens of thou­sands of cit­i­zens to show ad­vo­cates of the “Oc­cupy” cam­paign that the ma­jor­ity are against the “civil dis­obe­di­ence” scheme set to par­a­lyze the city’s busi­ness hub.
