Pi­rate pub­lish­ers busted

In con­junc­tion with law en­force­ment of­fi­cials from seven cities across the na­tion, the po­lice of Haid­ian dis­trict re­cently cracked down on an on­line piracy ring and took in 15 sus­pects, the largest group it has ar­rested so far. Last De­cem­ber, the lo­cal po­lice found an on­line search engine with more than 200 mem­ber web­sites that con­tained some 8,000 works taken from a do­mes­ti­cally renowned lit­er­a­ture por­tal with­out au­tho­riza­tion. The founder of the search engine, sur­named Zheng, earned more than 10,000 yuan ($1,600) ev­ery month from ad­ver­tis­ing fees from mem­ber web­sites.
