Shang­hai Gen­eral Mo­tors Co — the joint ven­ture be­tween GM and SAIC — an­nounced on Aug 13 that Wang Xiao­qiu will take the reins as gen­eral man­ager. Wang, 49, was for­merly gen­eral man­ager of Shang­hai Diesel Engine Co, a sub­sidiary of SAIC Group. For­mer gen­eral man­ager of Shang­hai GM Ye Yong­ming will re­port­edly leave the auto in­dus­try for a post as the chair­man of the State-owned Bail­ian Group Co in Shang­hai. Ac­cord­ing to the Forbes rank­ing in 2012, Bail­ian topped the lat­est sur­vey of China’s 100 top chain stores pub­lished an­nu­ally by the China Chain Store and Fran­chise As­so­ci­a­tion. Ye has been gen­eral man­ager of Shang­hai GM for two and half years.
