Stocks’ first gain in six days

Hong Kong stocks rose, with the bench­mark in­dex post­ing its first gain in six days, as com­mod­ity shares climbed af­ter man­u­fac­tur­ing data from the Chi­nese main­land to Ger­many sug­gested signs of global re­cov­ery. China Coal En­ergy Co, the na­tion’s sec­ond­largest pro­ducer of the fuel, jumped 4.7 per­cent af­ter pre­lim­i­nary data showed un­ex­pected ex­pan­sion in the main­land’s fac­tory ac­tiv­ity. The Hang Seng In­dex added 0.4 per­cent to close at 21,895.40, eras­ing losses of as much as 1.3 per­cent.
