Suicide-prevention hotline expands
A 24-hour suicide-prevention hotline was formally launched in five cities on Tuesday after a successful pilot project. The hotline, which will use the number 400-161-9995, was initially launched at the end of 2012 by the nonprofit Life Education and Crisis Intervention Center. From January to November, the hotline received 2,941 calls. Services are now available in Beijing and Shenzhen as well as in Henan, Hebei and Jilin provinces.
