Im­proved patent qual­ity

Sta­tis­tics from the State In­tel­lec­tual Prop­erty Of­fice show the num­ber of Chi­nese in­ven­tion patent ap­pli­ca­tions and au­tho­riza­tions ac­counted for more than 30 per­cent of the to­tal fil­ings over the past three months, in­di­cat­ing a ma­tur­ing patent struc­ture. Tao Xin­liang, IP pro­fes­sor at Shang­hai Univer­sity, said Chi­nese com­pa­nies and in­sti­tu­tions are also im­prov­ing the patent qual­ity and sug­gested the gov­ern­ment en­cour­age com­pa­nies to cre­ate more core pro­pri­etary tech­nolo­gies through clear pol­icy guid­ance.
