New vac­cines at clin­ics on Fri­day

The gov­ern­ment-sub­si­dized 13-va­lent Pneu­mo­coc­cal Con­ju­gate Vac­cine (PCV13) will be­come avail­able at pri­vate clin­ics as soon as Fri­day. Pri­vate doc­tors en­rolled in the Childhood 13-Va­lent Pneu­mo­coc­cal Con­ju­gate Vac­cine (PCV13) Booster Vac­ci­na­tion Pro­gram (BVP) said they had been no­ti­fied by the Center for Health Pro­tec­tion about ar­rival of the vac­cines on Fri­day. Ye­ung Chiu-fat, pres­i­dent of the Hong Kong Doc­tors’ Union, said pri­vate doc­tors could or­der a max­i­mum of 20 shots of the vac­cine a day. Doc­tors are re­quired to pro­vide pa­tients’ in­for­ma­tion to the gov­ern­ment for ver­i­fi­ca­tion if they need to or­der more. The pro­gram is ex­pected to be com­pleted in June next year.
