New vaccines at clinics on Friday
The government-subsidized 13-valent Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine (PCV13) will become available at private clinics as soon as Friday. Private doctors enrolled in the Childhood 13-Valent Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine (PCV13) Booster Vaccination Program (BVP) said they had been notified by the Center for Health Protection about arrival of the vaccines on Friday. Yeung Chiu-fat, president of the Hong Kong Doctors’ Union, said private doctors could order a maximum of 20 shots of the vaccine a day. Doctors are required to provide patients’ information to the government for verification if they need to order more. The program is expected to be completed in June next year.
