Falling wheel injures seven
A wheel flew off a truck travelling on the West Kowloon Corridor on Friday afternoon, hitting seven people in the street under a viaduct. Police said the driver slowed down after detecting problems with one of the front wheels. The wheel flew from the flyover 30 meters above the ground. It bounced onto the street below and hit a shop sign. It struck seven people in the process, including a 72-year-old vendor. He is in intensive care of Queen Elizabeth Hospital with serious head injuries. The other three men and three women suffered minor injuries. Police said they believed the main bolts of the wheel had not been tightened properly. The driver has been arrested for dangerous driving causing bodily harm.
