Fall­ing wheel in­jures seven

A wheel flew off a truck trav­el­ling on the West Kowloon Cor­ri­dor on Fri­day af­ter­noon, hit­ting seven peo­ple in the street un­der a viaduct. Po­lice said the driver slowed down af­ter de­tect­ing prob­lems with one of the front wheels. The wheel flew from the fly­over 30 me­ters above the ground. It bounced onto the street be­low and hit a shop sign. It struck seven peo­ple in the process, in­clud­ing a 72-year-old ven­dor. He is in in­ten­sive care of Queen El­iz­a­beth Hos­pi­tal with se­ri­ous head in­juries. The other three men and three women suf­fered mi­nor in­juries. Po­lice said they be­lieved the main bolts of the wheel had not been tight­ened prop­erly. The driver has been ar­rested for dan­ger­ous driv­ing caus­ing bod­ily harm.
