24-hour doctors’ clinic proposal rejected

China Daily (Hong Kong) - - NATION | DIGEST -

A proposal to set up 24-hour private doctors’ clinics in Accident and Emergency (A&E) Services of public hospitals was rejected by Secretary for Food and Health Ko Wing-man in the Legislative Council on Wednesday. Legislators said that many people were forced to seek treatment in over-crowded A&E Services because there were no 24-hour private hospitals or clinics where they lived. But Ko said such a proposal would not work because A&E Service charges were generally much lower than those for private clinics.
