Junior event tees off next week
The Asia-Pacific Junior Classic golf championship tees off next week at Beijing Topwin Golf and Country Club in the capital’s suburban Huairou district.
The Oct 28-30 event pits the best players aged 13-18 from the region in three rounds of stroke play on the Ian Woosman-designed par-72 course.
Participants include HSBC junior men’s and women’s champions Feng Zhourui and Zhang Jingwen.
To promote the sport, organizers will also host competitions in driving, chipping and putting as well as a simulation round for players aged 8-12.

While aiming to solidify his position atop the merit rankings, Hend is also looking to end his memorable season with a flourish.
“I’ve been very close to winning the Order of Merit previously, only to be edged out by guys obviously playing a bit better,” said Hend.
“I should have won more times this year.”
The big-hitting Aussie won twice in Thailand this season and was narrowly denied his 10th Asian Tour title after a playoff loss in Switzerland last month.
