Mental health in spotlight
Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba Group has joined hands with a Shanghaibased NGO, World of Art Brut Culture, to help people with mental disorders. WABC aims to help people with special needs develop their artistic potential through workshops or training programs. At this year’s Singles Day shopping festival, Alibaba was authorized by WABC to use some of the art designs from those who benefitted from WABC programs. These were featured in such items as umbrellas, cards and shoes, that were sold on Alibaba’s crowdfunding platforms. The business program, combining art and charity, will last for a month and 10 percent of the overall revenue will go back to help WABC’s future work.
