NCPA to stage Chi­nese ver­sion of

Hol­ly­wood direc­tor Tim Burton’s new fan­tasy film Miss Peregrine’sHome­forPe­cu­liar Chil­dren de­buted in Chi­nese main­land the­aters on Dec 2. The film based on Amer­i­can au­thor Ran­som Riggs’ name­sake novel is about a teenager’s ad­ven­tures while res­cu­ing a group of chil­dren from mon­sters. The film show­cases Burton’s typ­i­cally dark, gothic style.

The Na­tional Center for the Per­form­ing Arts will stage its ver­sion of Ham­le­tover Dec 15-22. NCPA has al­ready staged AMid­sum­merNight’sDream and Mac­beththis year to mark the 400th death an­niver­sary of Wil­liam Shake­speare. The NCPA ver­sion com­bines the orig­i­nal plot with its Chi­nese trans­la­tor Zhu Sheng­hao’s life story.
