Xi stresses role of eco-civ­i­liza­tion

Pres­i­dent Xi Jin­ping has called for step­ping up ef­forts in the con­struc­tion of eco­log­i­cal civ­i­liza­tion, ac­cord­ing to a state­ment re­leased on Fri­day by the cen­tral govern­ment. Xi urged lo­cal gov­ern­ments as well as de­part­ments con­cerned to earnestly im­ple­ment a new con­cept of de­vel­op­ment and bear in mind that clear waters and green moun­tains are in­valu­able as­sets. More should be done to in­sti­tu­tion­al­ize and le­gal­ize eco­log­i­cal civ­i­liza­tion and to speed up a greener, re­new­able and low­car­bon growth, Xi said. to root out poverty. Un­der the out­line, 128,000 im­pov­er­ished vil­lages and 832 coun­ties across the coun­try will be lifted out of poverty by 2020.
