Peacock thief jailed and fined
A thief in Gaoyou city who stole six peacocks and ate them has been jailed for 8 months and fined 4,000 yuan ($580). The 40-yearold, surnamed Yang, stole the birds at the end of May, shortly after being released from jail for another offense. Yang thought the peacocks were turkeys, according to police.
