Pea­cock thief jailed and fined

A thief in Gaoyou city who stole six pea­cocks and ate them has been jailed for 8 months and fined 4,000 yuan ($580). The 40-yearold, sur­named Yang, stole the birds at the end of May, shortly af­ter be­ing re­leased from jail for another offense. Yang thought the pea­cocks were tur­keys, ac­cord­ing to po­lice.
