Ex-ad­viser gets 13 years for graft

Si Xin­liang, for­mer deputy head of the pro­vin­cial po­lit­i­cal ad­vi­sory body in Zhe­jiang prov­ince, was sen­tenced to 13 years in prison for bribery on Tues­day, a court in Jiangxi prov­ince said. Si abused his po­si­tion and ac­cepted bribes worth more than 19.55 mil­lion yuan ($2.8 mil­lion) from 2001 to 2014, ac­cord­ing to the Ji­u­jiang In­ter­me­di­ate Peo­ple’s Court. The court said that Si was handed a le­nient pun­ish­ment as he pleaded guilty and turned over his il­licit money.
