Executive removed over airport incident

China Daily (Hong Kong) - - CHINA -

A Shanghai Airlines flight division manager was removed from his post on Tuesday after a passenger aircraft slid off an icy taxiway at an airport in Urumqi. The nose wheel of the aircraft skidded off the taxiway due to the frozen ground and improper operation at Urumqi Diwopu International Airport. The runway was shut down after the incident and reopened at 2 pm that day. A China Southern Airlines airplane also veered off the runway half an hour later after the first incident. Neither incident caused injury or damage.
