Tiger returning to where it all started
Tiger Woods will play Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles for the first time since 2006 when he tees up at the Genesis Open in February.
The former world No 1, who returned from a 16-month injury absence earlier this month, announced on Tuesday that he will play in the Feb 13-19 event that benefits his charity foundation.
Riviera was the site of 14-time major winner Woods’ PGA Tour debut in 1992 at the age of 16.
The 40-year-old American said he “weighed about 105lbs” at the time “and it was a lifechanging moment for me”.
The Tiger Woods Foundation, the PGA Tour and Genesis announced a partnership under which Woods’ events company, TGR Live, will manage the tournament.
