Phone fraud­ster back in court

An ex-con­vict who was re­leased in 2013 af­ter serv­ing a 12-year pri­son sen­tence for fraud is back in court for the same of­fense. The man, sur­named Tian, is ac­cused of work­ing with a woman, sur­named Wang, to de­fraud gov­ern­ment staff of 6,000 yuan ($870) in June, 2014. They al­legedly used an in­ter­nal tele­phone di­rec­tory that Tian had pur­chased to con­tact the mem­bers of staff, while Wang pre­tended to be the depart­ment head’s wife.
