Negligence blamed for fatal accident
Police said on Thursday that a traffic accident at a farmers’ market that killed four people was a result of driver negligence. A van crashed into a farmers’ market in the capital’s northern suburb of Changping at about 3 pm on Wednesday, killing four people and injuring 12. Police said the 45-year-old driver, surnamed Xu, did not intend to harm anyone. Xu has been detained and an investigation into the incident is underway.
