Ex-of­fi­cial gets 18 years for graft

Jing Chun­hua, a for­mer se­nior of­fi­cial in He­bei prov­ince, was sen­tenced to 18 years in prison for bribery, ac­cord­ing the Changchun In­ter­me­di­ate Peo­ple’s Court on Fri­day. Jing, a for­mer Stand­ing Com­mit­tee mem­ber and sec­re­tary-gen­eral of the Com­mu­nist Party of China He­bei pro­vin­cial com­mit­tee, sought prof­its for oth­ers and ac­cepted bribes worth more than 60.5 mil­lion yuan ($8.7 mil­lion) between 2001 and 2013 when he held sev­eral po­si­tions in He­bei, the court said. In ad­di­tion, Jing could not ex­plain how he and his fam­ily came into pos­ses­sion of prop­erty val­ued at 86.3 mil­lion yuan, the court said.
