Pawnshop fraudster jailed
A man, surnamed Shu, who used gold-plated rings to defraud three pawnshops in Dongcheng district of 18,000 yuan ($2,600) has been jailed for eight months. The court heard that Shu colluded with two other men, surnamed Mao and Liang, to pawn the fake gold rings, which were valued at less than 150 yuan each, on Aug 30. Shu received 3,000 yuan of the ill-gotten gains, but was detained while attempting to defraud a fourth pawnshop. Mao and Liang are still at large.
