Mil­i­tary out­raged by crash car­toon

The Rus­sian mil­i­tary is con­demn­ing car­toons about a mil­i­tary plane crash pub­lished by French satir­i­cal mag­a­zine Char­lie Hebdo. Rus­sian De­fense Min­istry spokesman Ma­jor Gen­eral Igor Konashenkov said: “It is hu­mil­i­at­ing for a nor­mal per­son even to pay at­ten­tion to this la­bored filth.” Sun­day’s crash killed all 92 peo­ple on board, in­clud­ing mem­bers of the Rus­sian army choir. One of the car­toons de­picts a singer in the fall­ing air­craft wail­ing ‘aaaa’ with the in­scrip­tion: “The reper­toire of the Red Army Choir is ex­pand­ing.”

Mem­bers of Hashid Shaabi or Pop­u­lar Mo­bi­liza­tion Forces fire to­wards Is­lamic State mil­i­tant po­si­tions in the west of Mo­sul, Iraq, on Wed­nes­day.
