Fangshan hosts icy challenges
The China Ice Climbing Championships and the China (Fangshan) Ice Climbing Open will be held on Jan 16-17 in Beijing’s southern suburban district of Fangshan.
Organized by the Chinese Mountaineering Association and China Sports Daily, the event is expected to attract more than 100 of the nation’s top climbers for the men’s and women’s speed competitions.
A series of fun climbing activities will also be held on the sidelines.
In the lead-up to the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing and Zhangjiakou, China is promoting ice and snow sports by encouraging 300 million residents to take up winter athletic activities.
