Hoh Xil nom­i­nated for UNESCO heritage list

UNESCO will re­lease an up­dated World Heritage Sites list at the week­end. Among sites nom­i­nated for in­clu­sion in the pres­ti­gious list is Hoh Xil, Qing­hai prov­ince. The 45,000-square-kilo­me­ter re­gion en­com­passes China’s largest un­in­hab­ited area, and is home to sev­eral en­dan­gered species, in­clud­ing the Ti­betan an­te­lope. It is lo­cated in the Hoh Xil Na­tional Na­ture Re­serve.
