The to­tal num­ber of Ti­betan an­telopes has risen to more than 200,000 at Chang­tang in the Ti­betan au­ton­o­mous re­gion. Cov­er­ing 298,000 square kilo­me­ters at an al­ti­tude of 5,000 me­ters, Chang­tang is the coun­try’s big­gest and high­est re­serve. It is a wildlife par­adise and home to a va­ri­ety of species and nu­mer­ous lakes. In ad­di­tion to an­telopes, the re­gion also has wild don­keys, yaks and black-necked cranes.
