Gene pool for the lost gen­er­a­tion

The China Char­i­ties Aid Foun­da­tion for Chil­dren has es­tab­lished a gene pool, to link pub­lic se­cu­rity or­ga­ni­za­tions in the search for lost chil­dren across the coun­try. The first batch of DNA was col­lected from the mouths of chil­dren at the launch cer­e­mony in early July, when a play about the fight against kid­nap­ping chil­dren was per­formed. Since be­ing founded in 2010, the China Char­i­ties Aid Foun­da­tion for Chil­dren has helped more than 2.6 mil­lion Chi­nese or­phans, waifs and other chil­dren in need, with do­na­tions worth about 1.9 bil­lion yuan ($160 mil­lion).
