Kickboxing tour­ney set to hit Bei­jing

The KO-5 world kickboxing cham­pi­ons tour­na­ment, or­ga­nized by the Chi­nese Wushu As­so­ci­a­tion and the Bei­jing Jing­wufeng­shang Cul­ture Com­mu­ni­ca­tion Co Ltd, will be held in Bei­jing in Septem­ber

he com­pe­ti­tion features pro­fes­sional and ama­teur di­vi­sions. The pro group has seven weight cat­e­gories – 60kg, 65kg, 70kg, 75kg, 80kg, 85kg and +85kg, and the ex­pected num­ber of ama­teur par­tic­i­pants will be around 1,500, com­ing from fight­ers reg­is­tered at the as­so­ci­a­tion and from lo­cal sports schools and clubs.

Around 30 mil­lion Chi­nese prac­tice ei­ther wushu or kickboxing, while the to­tal fig­ure glob­ally is around 200 mil­lion.
