Rolling back the years in Beijing
Bowling is striking back! The Beijing club bowling league kicks off on Sunday at the Beijing Donghuan Bowling Center with eight teams taking part. The eight-month event will be followed by competitions at Dita, Nanxinyuan and Wangjing bowling centers.
The Baker format competition features two- , three- and five-member teams.
Bowling enjoyed a boom in the 1990s with over 100 alleys in Beijing crowded every night and customers forming long queues despite each frame costing around 30 yuan. However, entering the 21st century, the sociable sport was surpassed in China by golf and other cheaper sports.
