China Daily (Hong Kong) - - POLICY REVIEW -

Government departments are required to take the initiative in publicizing information regarding food safety to prevent rumors on food safety.

This was made clear in a recent announcement on preventing rumors on food safety, issued by the Food Safety Office under the State Council together with ten other statelevel departments.

It stressed that food safety departments at all levels need to publicize information that the public need to know, and help this information reach the public accurately through various channels.

It also stressed that media outlets and websites should report on food safety issues accurately and objectively.
