Tree-plant­ing move backed by Hyundai

The Chi­nese branch of Hyundai Mo­tor Co, the au­to­mo­bile com­pany based in South Korea, or­ga­nized a tree plant­ing ex­er­cise for 120 col­lege stu­dents between late July to early Au­gust in ar­eas in the north­ern In­ner Mon­go­lia au­ton­o­mous re­gion. Launched in 2008, the project is ex­pected to have planted a to­tal of 90 mil­lion square me­ters of veg­e­ta­tion by 2018. The com­pany said the project aimed to reestab­lish bi­o­log­i­cal di­ver­sity and re­cover the eco­log­i­cal sys­tem of the deserts.
